Hi there π I'm Adrian, and I want to welcome you to notesaboutstartups.com. This site is my passion project, born out of my own experiences as a failed entrepreneur.
Why I Started This Site
A while ago, I launched my first startup. It failed. Miserably. But from this failure, I learned a lot. I realized that much of the advice I got was terrible. I took courses, joined online communities, and even bought into some of those "Buy my course and join my Discord" deals π. They were mostly filled with theoretical fluff, not real practical advice. It felt like they were selling dopamine highs rather than giving you useful tips.
This frustration inspired me to share my practical experiences and knowledge. I wanted to help friends, family, and anyone else struggling to start or run a business. The aim is to prevent you from making the expensive mistakes I made.
My Mission
To be honest, I don't have a grand mission. I just want to share my experiences with anyone interested in entrepreneurship. It's one of the hardest things you can do. Starting a business from scratch is no easy task, and I want to show the real challenges behind it.
βοΈ The Coffee Cup Expense Metric
In an effort to simplify the often complex and time-consuming tasks that come with starting and running a business, I created the Coffee Cup Expense Metric βοΈ. This unique metric gives you a straightforward understanding of how long it will take to grasp the basics of a tool or to install something, like setting up DNS settings for your website or configuring an SEO tool. Essentially, it translates time and money into something as relatable as a cup of coffee. According to this metric, one cup of coffee is equivalent to 5 USD and 30 minutes of your time. By measuring tasks in terms of coffee cups, I aim to provide you with a clearer picture of what youβre getting into, helping you manage your resources and expectations more effectively.
A Personal Touch
My first startup failure brought countless struggles and sleepless nights. It even drained my savings account. This tough period was a turning point for me. It made me realize the importance of practical advice and authentic sharing. This is what I aim to offer through Notesaboutstartups.
If you're an entrepreneur or thinking about starting a business, I hope you'll find my site useful. I'm here to share what I've learned and to help you avoid the pitfalls I fell into. Thanks for stopping by π
Best, Adrian
