Remember when Instagram was a simple app where you could scroll through a curated feed of your friends' photos? It was a place for inspiration, creativity, and connecting with people you actually cared about. Fast forward to today, and it's a different beast altogether—one that seems to be losing its charm.
Too Many Ads, Too Little Substance
Many users are annoyed by the large number of ads. It feels like every other post is trying to sell you something, whether it's the latest gadget, a new fashion trend, or some obscure product you never knew existed. Overloaded with sponsored content and unwanted notifications, the line between actual posts and ads has blurred so much that my feed feels more like a catalog than a collection of moments shared by friends.
Enter the TikTok Effect
Since TikTok became the talk of the town, Instagram has been trying to catch up by pushing tons of random content through its search feature. But instead of coming across stuff I like, I'm swamped with random videos that just keep me scrolling late into the night. It's become more of a recipe for anxiety than entertainment. And I'm not alone—many friends don't bother posting anymore, or their posts get lost in the sea of ads and random reels.
Where's the Real Connection?
The connection that once made Instagram special seems to be fading. The platform feels more like a noisy marketplace than a place to share meaningful moments. I, for one, am tired of seeing endless party pics and reminders of things I'm not interested in—it's all noise, and I'm ready to tune it out.
What's Next for Me?
With all the clutter, I'm planning to shift my focus. I'll use Instagram more for passion projects and business ventures rather than personal updates. If I'm going to spend time on the platform, it might as well be productive. At this point, I'd rather grab a good book than waste time doom scrolling through irrelevant content.
